Carbon sequestration by whales make a minimal impact on climate change

Despite some hope that this would be the case, a new study led by Griffith University and a team of global researchers has found the amount of potential carbon capture by whales is too little to meaningfully alter the course of climate change.

So far, 23 dead whales have been found from Maine to Florida in 2023, four more than in all of 2022. Twelve of them apparently died off New York and New Jersey, twice as many as in 2022.
